Maintenance Technician

***POSITION LOCATED IN EMPORIA***

Position Description: This position is responsible for performing daily preventive maintenance tasks on various pieces of production equipment. In addition to maintenance tasks, this position will also perform repair tasks needed to keep the equipment operational. The maintenance technician will work closely with operational and management personnel to ensure all production equipment is kept in good condition and able to meet the company’s production needs. This position is required to be on-call at times for various service needs. Specific Responsibilities of the Job Create a safe and secure work environment Perform hands on maintenance and repair tasks on production equipment as required Work with management to minimize unnecessary downtime Analyze machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems Maintain maintenance related records Performfacilities maintenance Achieve goals and objectives that are set out each year by plant management. Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense. Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, andCompany Employee Handbook Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job Job Requirements Basic knowledge of maintenance functions. Detailed knowledge of Electrical, Controls, is desired, PLCs and/or HVAC troubleshooting is a plus. Ability to work independently and trouble shoot problems as they arise Familiar with state and federal OSHA regulations High level of time management and organizational skillsStrong technical and problem solving skills Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required, post secondary courses in related disciplines preferred 1-3 Years experience in maintenance position desirable, but not required

Physical Demands These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to lift up to 75 pounds. If needed, mechanical lifts are available to assist with heavy lifts. The employee is often required to stand and use their hands and fingers. The employee is often required to walk, reach with arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Temperature in some of the production areas is controlled; however temperature on the production floor can range from mid fifty degrees in the winter to over one-hundred degrees in the summer.
