Clinical Nurse Vascular Access

Role Information Hours for this position are 11:00 to 11:30 PM with every third weekend rotation. The Vascular Access Service provides care to both inpatient and outpatient populations at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The team utilizes both traditional IV insertion techniques and advanced ultrasound-guided technology to place peripheral IVs (PIVs), midlines, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines). Training is provided during orientation to develop competency in the use of ultrasound for vascular access device placement. In addition to device insertion, nurses assess, maintain, and troubleshoot vascular access devices, including restoring catheter patency through evidence-based interventions such as declotting occluded lines and addressing mechanical or positional issues. This role offers opportunities for advancement through higher RN Career Ladder levels, with corresponding percentage-based salary increases aligned with expanded responsibilities and role progression.
