RN ICU Nurse

Job Summary:

The Level 3 Registered Nurse (RN) ICU Nights is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, Emergency Department, and other critical care units. This role involves assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN must maintain professional communication and adhere to safety protocols while demonstrating flexibility to float across multiple units including CCU, ED, and cardiac cath lab. Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive patient care in ICU and emergency settings.
• Collect and report critical patient data and lab/diagnostic results promptly to physicians.
• Perform thorough physical assessments and identify abnormal findings.
• Develop individualized plans of care based on patient needs and clinical guidelines.
• Advocate for patients and their families throughout care delivery.
• Implement nursing interventions following hospital policies and patient requirements.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and infection control protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and nursing management.
• Float to multiple units including North 2, North 3, ICU/CCU, and Emergency Department as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license to practice in New York State.
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU and Emergency Department experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS provider certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Current TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• Moderate Sedation certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in cardiac catheterization lab or critical care cardiac units.
• Ability to float flexibly between critical care units.
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills in high-acuity environments.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Shared housing is available at a cost for out-of-area staff.
• Floating to various units including CCU, ED, and cardiac cath lab is required.
• Strict adherence to safety and infection control guidelines is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule, typically 12.5-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Schedule may include every other week (EOW) assignments or as determined by management.
