This position will be located at Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0176 .

Responsibilities - What you'll do

• Provide supervision and technical leadership to six Assistant, Associate, and Professional Engineers.
• Review team's documents, including approval letters, comments, and associated work related to engineering reports, detailed plans and specifications, and other submittals for wastewater, stormwater, and/or nonpoint source projects to ensure compliance with standard engineering practices, regulatory requirements, and protection of public health and the environment. Prepare internal templates and guidance documents to assist the team members in completing these tasks.
• Supervise and coordinate the review of environmental information and impact determinations for clean water projects.
• Review and evaluate engineering documents and circumstances related to financial assistance projects during construction and initial stages of operation.
• Coordinate, and at times conduct, routine (e.g., quarterly) construction inspections.
• Coordinate closely with Financial Assistance Center team members, regional planning commissions, department colleagues, including those in Compliance and Enforcement and Regional Offices, regarding the status of projects of mutual interest as well as creating or maintaining policies and procedures for that coordination.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to the Clean Water engineering team, regulated community, citizens, private engineering consultants, legislators, and others with regard to laws, regulations, and engineering requirements through in-person or online meetings, written communications, and presentations.
• Participate in training and technical conferences to remain current on supervisory role, engineering practices, and innovative treatment technologies, and effectively communicate this information and experience to other department engineers and engineering consultants.

Qualifications - All you need for success

• This position must be a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.

AND

To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

• Environmental Engineering: Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.
• Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
• Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example: facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct, brief, clear and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.
• Managing Human Resources: Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner.

Equivalent to those typically gained by :

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program and six or more years engineering experience.
• Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
