Licensed Master Social Worker

Regional Economic Community Action Program, Inc

Job Description

Job Description

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The SNUG Street Outreach Program is an evidence-based violence reduction initiative that treats gun violence as a public health issue by identifying its causes and interrupting its transmission. Funded and supported by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), SNUG programs employ credible messengers from the communities they serve to mentor high-risk individuals, mediate conflicts, and promote violence prevention.

The SNUG Social Worker provides trauma-informed clinical and supportive services to individuals, families, and communities affected by community violence. Working as an integral member of the SNUG team, this position provides therapeutic services, staff support, crisis response, and connections to victim services and community resources. The Social Worker supports the program’s efforts to address trauma, improve access to services, and promote community well-being.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Clinical Services and Trauma-Informed Support

  • Provide onsite social work and therapeutic support as a member of the SNUG team.
  • Work with victims of community violence and their families, providing short-term or longer-term therapeutic services as appropriate.
  • Assess participant needs and connect individuals and families with appropriate clinical, victim support, and community-based services.
  • Develop and facilitate onsite programming, including support groups for staff, program participants, and families of homicide victims.
  • Maintain an appropriate caseload and provide services consistent with program requirements and professional standards.

Staff Support and Clinical Guidance

  • Work with SNUG staff to debrief traumatic incidents, process work-related experiences, and manage the ongoing stress associated with community violence prevention.
  • Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to staff working with individuals affected by violence.
  • Participate in scheduled trauma-focused training calls and weekly onsite clinical supervision.
  • Support staff in identifying participant needs, navigating difficult situations, and making appropriate referrals.

Service Coordination and Community Partnerships

  • Collaborate with SNUG outreach staff to coordinate services for participants and families.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, victim service providers, and community organizations to increase awareness of and access to SNUG services.
  • Connect victims of crime with appropriate supportive services and community resources.
  • Coordinate with community partners to help ensure participants and families receive appropriate referrals and follow-up services.

Community Outreach and Crisis Response

  • Respond alongside the SNUG team to community violence incidents when appropriate.
  • Attend SNUG outreach events and participate in community-based activities.
  • Conduct home visits with victims and families when appropriate and consistent with program procedures.
  • Provide support to the SNUG team during emergency situations involving staff or program participants.
  • Maintain awareness of safety considerations when conducting outreach, home visits, and community-based services.

Documentation, Reporting, and Program Compliance

  • Maintain records and databases in accordance with agency procedures and program requirements.
  • Track service delivery and activities in accordance with applicable Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) reporting standards and other funding requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive participant, family, and staff information.
  • Participate in program meetings, training activities, and other initiatives that support service quality and compliance.

Training, Travel, and Professional Development
