Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, directs, and coordinates the Safety and Health processes in the plant(s) by perform the following duties:
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Identify, develop, and maintain Safety and Health polices for the entire facility.
- Support and strengthen overall health & safety programs
- Monitor OSHA compliance.
- Conduct Safety Inspections per OSHA and maintain required documentation.
- Make recommendations for safe operations of equipment and equipment layout.
- Support/coach accident investigations.
- Prepare and maintain OSHA and Worker Compensation incident reports, logs, investigations, regulatory reporting, etc.
- Monitor Employees on WC work restrictions to ensure compliance with restrictions and return to work requirements, and work to achieve full duty release as soon as possible.
- Lead safety committee.
- Lead Ergonomic committee.
- Develop and deliver training programs to promote a strong safety culture.
- On call for emergency situations.
- Work with HR and other departments on ADA reasonable accommodations and other safety related issues and essential job functions.
- All other job duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with others professionally.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook), etc.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong planning and follow up skills.
- Ability to investigate/report/control work compensation claims and documentation.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- College degree in EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) or a related field.
- Background in worker’s compensation and regulatory compliance preferred..
- 2-years of job related experience, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- OSHA 30 certification and First Responder certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards and the company attendance policy.
- Ability to bend, twist, sit, and stoop.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs as needed.
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to reach at and/or above or below shoulder level as needed.
- Ability to use hands/fingers for gross and fine manipulation.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, occasionally stressful, just in time environment.
- Ability to tolerate viewing computer screens and bright lighting.
