Site safety and health officer

job summary:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in Tacoma, WA to oversee on-site safety programs at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Client is looking for someone with demonstrated construction safety experience, EM 385-1-1 qualification, and an OSHA 30-hour certificate. This full-time role ensures strict compliance, risk mitigation, and proactive safety management across all operations.

• Conduct daily safety inspections, enforce EM 385-1-1 requirements and Accident Prevention Plans (APPs), and maintain the deficiency tracking system.

• Implement Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), lead worker orientations, coordinate safety permits, and inspect incoming jobsite equipment.

• Investigate mishaps, complete OSHA Form 300 logs, stop unsafe work conditions immediately, and report incidents directly to project leadership.

• Work closely with subcontractors and project managers to resolve hazards, facilitate safety meetings, and provide proactive safety coaching.

• Experience level: Experienced
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Education: No Degree Required
