Registered Nurse SANE - Per Diem

Position: RN SANE Peds Location: Naperville Type: Per Diem Summary: Provides high-quality, cost-effective care to patients with sexual assault complaints, including conducting medical-forensic exams and evidence collection in accordance with Illinois and hospital guidelines. Responsibilities Perform physical assessments and forensic exams tailored to pediatric patients. Obtain evidence using Illinois State Police Evidence Collection Kits with appropriate consent. Facilitate forensic photography and identify injuries requiring medical attention. Maintain chain of custody, document assessments, evidence, and interventions. Provide crisis intervention, ensure privacy and confidentiality, and coordinate with law enforcement and advocacy groups. Educate patients on exams, procedures, STD and pregnancy prevention, and follow-up care. Participate in training others and provide legal testimony as needed. Pursue ongoing professional development within the SANE program. Qualifications & Skills Completion of IAFN-accredited SANE P course with clinical component. Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing, experience in Emergency Medicine or women’s health, and at least one year as a SANE RN. Current Illinois RN license; ability to practice in Illinois approved by the Illinois State SANE Coordinator if necessary. Key Attributes: Knowledge of pediatric patient care, forensic evidence collection, crisis intervention, patient education, and legal processes.
