Registered Nurse (RN) - Med SurgLocation: Nashville, TNGeneral InformationUnit Name: 12 TowerNumber of Beds: 36Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5Unit Staffing Description: Secretary available every day; PRN techsType of Equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV PumpsDocumentation System: MeditechScheduling Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week blockFloating Policy: Will float over core staffPatient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, safety checks every 1-2 hours, communication and responsiveness focusRequired Certifications: BLS, NIHSSJob ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med Surg unit will be responsible for:Performing basic patient assessments and providing general careManaging wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, and chest tubesAssisting with post-operative procedures including amputations, oral surgeries, ostomies, and wound vacsMonitoring and administering medications as per protocolsCommunicating effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teamsImplementing fall prevention and infection control measuresJob RequirementsAbility to provide direct patient care and respond to medical emergenciesExperience with patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps is preferredFamiliarity with basic medical equipmentStrong teamwork and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environmentDress CodeScrubs in navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue are required.Team EnvironmentWe foster a supportive and experienced team atmosphere where all staff are recognized and held accountable.
