Job Title: Materials Expediter

Location: San Jose, CA

Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire

Shift: Day Shift (Monday – Friday)

Pay Rate: $21.00 – $24.00/hr (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Materials Expediter to join our team in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will play a critical part in production scheduling and supply chain execution by coordinating, routing, and expediting materials to ensure manufacturing commitments are met on time.

You will work closely with buyers, production leads, inventory specialists, and external suppliers to resolve shortages, track open purchase orders, and facilitate seamless material flow across manufacturing lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Expedite open component orders and work-in-progress materials to meet required production schedules based on MRP demands and customer delivery dates.
• Maintain daily contact with suppliers via phone and email to track order statuses, confirm ship dates, and accelerate urgent delivery requests.
• Analyze shortage reports and collaborate with buyers and planners to resolve part shortages, open PO delivery updates, and lead-time constraints.
• Assist buyers and warehouse teams in resolving receiving discrepancy logs (RDL), accounts payable holds, Return to Vendor (RTV) shipments, Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), and Material Review Board (MRB) items.
• Monitor and coordinate the physical and systemic flow of parts between receiving, inventory, quality inspection, and production departments.
• Timely identify and escalate critical material roadblocks and supply chain risks to management.
• Maintain accurate records on material movement, transit logs, and delivery confirmations within ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in materials coordination, expediting, purchasing assistance, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment (EMS, electronics, aerospace, or medical device manufacturing preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data filtering, lookups, pivot tables) and experience working within ERP/MRP systems.
• Prior experience interacting directly with vendors and suppliers to resolve delivery schedules and request quotes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present clear updates to management.
• Self-motivated, proactive problem-solver able to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a metrics-driven environment.
