Position Description: The Production Supervisor is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of CNC production while actively participating in machine setup, programming, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities. This working supervisor position combines advanced technical expertise in CNC lathe operations with strong leadership skills to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of precision-machined components. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes, including multi-axis turning equipment, and will lead a team of machinists, operators, and inspectors to consistently achieve production, quality, and delivery objectives. This role works closely with the 1st Shift Supervisor to coordinate workflow and optimize machine utilization. The role is also responsible for maintaining quality and safety standards, supporting employee development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Supervision and Team Leadership

· Directly supervise CNC machine operators, inspectors, and other production personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations.

· Assign work, monitor employee performance, and ensure production activities meet established standards for quality, efficiency, and output.

· Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, address performance concerns, and support employee development.

· Address employee questions, concerns, and grievances in a professional and timely manner.

CNC Operations and Production Oversight

· Interpret CNC specifications, blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and job orders to ensure accurate production.

· Oversee CNC machine setup, operation, adjustments, and changeovers to maintain production efficiency and product quality.

· Assist operators in diagnosing and resolving machining, tooling, programming, and equipment-related issues.

· Troubleshoot production problems and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel and external service providers as needed.

· Work with vendors and technical support representatives to resolve equipment, tooling, and process-related concerns.

· Monitor machine performance and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and equipment utilization.

• Coordinate with 1st Shift Supervisor to develop and      maintain production schedules, work assignments, and manufacturing      sequences to meet customer requirements and production goals.
• Coordinate with 1st Shift Supervisor to establish      production rates and priorities based on workload, machine capacity,      staffing levels, and company objectives.
• Coordinate workflow between shifts to maximize productivity and      minimize downtime.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

· Enforce all company safety, quality, sanitation, and operational policies and procedures.

· Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, AS9100, ISO 9001, aerospace machining standards, and all applicable plant safety requirements.

· Conduct inspections of materials, components, finished products, and equipment to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.

· Monitor production processes, gauges, indicators, and performance metrics to identify and correct issues affecting quality or safety.

· Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety awareness, and operational excellence throughout the department.

· Maintain accurate production and maintenance documentation to support operational, quality, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications and Competency Requirements:  

Experience & Education 

· High School Diploma or GED, required 

· Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience with a focus on lathe and turning operations (aerospace preferred).

· Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a precision manufacturing environment.

· Strong working knowledge of Mastercam, Mazatrol, or Okuma OSP programming.

· Proficient in G-code, tooling setup, offset adjustments, and machining strategy for high-precision components.

· Solid understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection methods.

· Experience with AS9100 and familiarity with quality system requirements.

· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams.

Computer Skills 

· Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and ERP software.

Compliance 

· Ability to comply with and pass all required background check and drug screening requirements, including but not limited to pre-employment and random drug screening as required/requested.  

· Valid AZ Driver’s License and a driving record that falls within Masterbilt’s policy.

Physical Activities & Working Conditions 

The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative, but not exhaustive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

· This position is typically performed in a production environment and requires the ability to stand for extended periods of up to 6–8 hours. Duties involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items. The role requires regular use of hands for operating equipment, keyboarding, and writing, as well as the ability to read, respond, and communicate effectively throughout the day via phone, in-person, and computer. The individual must be able to listen, problem-solve, and respond appropriately in a fast-paced setting, while demonstrating fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. This position also requires the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. on a sporadic basis.

Work Schedule: The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday with hours based on a production environment, with occasional nights and weekends, depending on the needs of the position and the organization.
