Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Observation

Job Details:

• 12-hour PM shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• 13-week assignment
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Low census policy allows for hour increment reductions; unit typically low censuses in 4-hour increments and may ask traveler to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift
• 8-bed observation unit with 2 RNs per shift and a 1:4 patient ratio
• Care for patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-op, urology, and GI
• Administer drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• Average patient stay up to 48 hours with high volume of admissions and discharges
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips required; EKG exam required during compliance
• Background in observation units or step-down MS/Tele units preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience required
• 1 prior travel assignment required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: WI RN License, BLS, and ACLS (ARC or AHA accepted)
• Associate Degree or Certificate required
• Scrub colors: any color
• Traveler must reside outside 50 miles from facility

This facility is a full-service inpatient hospital offering a wide range of medical and surgical services. The observation unit operates as an 8-bed unit focused on short-stay patients requiring monitoring and treatment for a variety of acute conditions.
