Why this role Most mid-level attorneys at large firms spend years executing strategy designed by others, with limited visibility into how decisions get made and limited opportunity to build their own client relationships. You will work directly with senior leadership on complex, high-value matters from day one, developing your own legal judgment, your own client instincts, and a professional profile that compounds over time. Our practice lead brings nearly 30 years of experience in global mobility strategy and has held leadership roles within AILA. Working closely with someone at that level is a different kind of professional development than a training budget alone can offer. What you'll do Own client relationships directly, serving as the primary point of contact and providing proactive, clear communication on case strategy and updates. Develop and implement tailored immigration strategies for complex matters across non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories. Conduct consultations with prospective and existing clients at all organizational levels, assessing eligibility and presenting actionable pathways. Prepare and file non-immigrant (H, L, O, TN, E) and immigrant (EB-1A/B/C, EB-2, including NIW, EB-3, EB-5) petitions with accuracy and full compliance. Work inside AI-assisted drafting and research tools to produce stronger filings without cutting corners on legal standards. Stay current on immigration law developments, agency policy shifts, and emerging precedents to deliver forward-looking counsel. Oversee case materials, filings, and correspondence in compliance with legal and firm standards. Accompany clients to interviews and in-person proceedings, providing guidance at critical stages. Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and contribute to business development efforts. Mentor junior staff and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team environment. Participate in internal legal tech and AI initiatives shaping how the firm researches, drafts, and manages cases. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Active admission to any U.S. state bar (New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut preferred). 2 to 4 years of U.S. business immigration experience, preferably with depth in one or more petition types. Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail. Confident, proactive communicator with clients and colleagues alike. Ability to manage a demanding caseload independently while collaborating across legal and support teams. Interest in business development and building long-term client relationships.
