Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: NC or Compact license preferred Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - Management of dysrhythmias - Telemetry - on unit monitoring - Telemetry - remote monitoring - Use of Rapid Response Teams - Colostomy care - Feeding tube care and management - Renal failure management - Blood product administration - Peripheral line care/management - Phlebotomy - PICC line management - Heparin administration - Insulin administration - Isolation precautions - Chest tube management - CPAP/BiPAP management - High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Oxygen administration - Non-invasive airway management - Oral suctioning - Oxygen mask administration - Tracheostomy management Description: This is an ED holding support position in a float pool. The ED holding unit has patients located within the emergency department who are waiting for inpatient beds. Patients may have any medical or surgical adult diagnosis. Travelers may encounter PCU level patients. Travelers are expected to handle MS/Tele cases and to float to other areas as needed. The target patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients. Every other weekend is required. Contract staff may be assigned to a storm team or hurricane team. They may also be required to work during a catastrophic event or disaster. This unit has a very fast-paced environment with very ill patients. Standard medical equipment is used, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps. The unit is monitored using electronic documentation systems. The ability to float within the facility is required.
