Trade Compliance Analyst
Hydac International GmbH
Trade Compliance AnalystHYDAC is a family-owned and operated business with a vibrant and rewarding working environment for our employees across the country. Our goal is to provide quality products, components, and services that meet our customer expectations while being committed to the protection and preservation of our environment. HYDAC's passionate team designs and manufactures a comprehensive line of innovative and reliable solutions optimized for any demand our customers require. The Trade Compliance Analyst owns and strengthens HYDAC's day-to-day U.S. import compliance for fluid power components. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role for someone who already knows U.S. import operations — tariff classification, USMCA qualification, duty determination, and CBP requirements — and applies that expertise within a fast-moving manufacturing supply chain. The Analyst partners closely with Purchasing, Logistics, Customer Service, customs brokers, and HYDAC's supplier network to ensure every entry is accurate, defensible, and audit-ready, coordinating with brokers and freight forwarders rather than being managed by them. You will make an impact in this role by:Managing day-to-day U.S. import operations for fluid power components, ensuring entries filed by HYDAC's customs brokers are accurate, timely, and compliant with CBP requirements.Reviewing entries, entry summaries, and Importer Security Filings (ISF) for accuracy before and after filing.Coordinating post-entry corrections and Post-Summary Corrections (PSC) when errors or updates are identified.Determining and maintaining Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) classifications for products and components; keeping classification records current and well documented.Applying the General Rules of Interpretation and referencing CBP CROSS rulings on close or ambiguous classifications.Maintaining a centralized classification database and driving consistency across SKUs, ERP data, and customer-facing documentation.Reviewing, validating, and soliciting USMCA certifications of origin from suppliers; assessing rules-of-origin qualification (tariff-shift and, where applicable, Regional Value Content).Maintaining supporting origin documentation for suppliers and finished goods.Making and documenting country-of-origin determinations consistent with the substantial transformation standard.Calculating duties and landed costs; monitoring applicable tariffs, including Section 301 and other additional duties.Identifying duty-savings opportunities under available trade programs and quantifying potential savings for leadership.Partnering with Purchasing on landed-cost and origin considerations ahead of sourcing decisions.Maintaining compliance records and product databases in line with CBP / 19 CFR requirements, including reasonable-care documentation.Supporting internal reviews, CBP inquiries (e.g., CF-28 Requests for Information), audits, and prior disclosures.Maintaining audit trails that hold up under CBP or third-party review.Serving as the point of contact for customs brokers and freight forwarders; resolving documentation, valuation, and clearance issues quickly.Communicating clearance status, holds, and documentation needs to Purchasing, Logistics, and Customer Service.Tracking changes to tariffs, trade agreements, and CBP / Department of Homeland Security regulations, and communicating the impact to internal stakeholders.Helping build and document repeatable, audit-ready compliance procedures and controls as import volume grows.Contributing to internal standard work, onboarding materials, and training on import-compliance touchpoints for adjacent teams.Key skills and attributes include:Attention to detail — manages entry documentation, records, and audit trails with precision.Technical judgment — makes defensible classification and origin calls; knows when to consult CROSS or seek a binding ruling.Cross-functional collaboration — works effectively with Purchasing, Logistics, Customer Service, brokers, and suppliers.Communication — clear written and verbal communication with brokers, suppliers, and internal teams; determinations that hold up under audit.Ownership — stands behind determinations and follows through on commitments.Composure — stays clear-headed and moves fast when a shipment is held or CBP inquires.RequirementsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.3+ years of hands-on U.S. import / customs compliance experience (in-house trade compliance, customs brokerage, or a comparable role).Demonstrated ability to classify products under the HTS and determine applicable duties and tariffs.Working knowledge of USMCA rules of origin and certification-of-origin requirements.Solid understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) import regulations, entry processes, and recordkeeping requirements (19 CFR).Strong attention to detail and comfort managing entry documentation, records, and audit trails.Clear written and verbal communication with brokers, suppliers, and internal teams.Ability to work independently, prioritize competing requests, and meet filing and audit deadlines.Extreme Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; comfort working in an ERP system (HYDAC uses SAP).Ability to work in trade-compliance / global trade management (GTM) systems and CBP's ACE portal.Microsoft Office — Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.HYDAC offers employees a comprehensive medical/dental/vision plan, paid holidays, PTO, 401k with company matching, FSA account, short term disability and life insurance, and pet insurance.
