Maintenance Assistant Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to work independently or part of a group. Computer knowledge. Previous long term care experience is preferred but not required. Troubleshoot building mechanical problems. Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities Perform miscellaneous repairs, scheduled, and preventative maintenance on equipment ensuring satisfactory operations. Working knowledge of electrical systems, various heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Follow established safety rules, policies, and procedures of the maintenance department.
