Program approval determines the award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) after complete review by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office. Responsibilities The Psychologist is located in the Supportive Recovery Services section (Substance Use Disorder clinic) of the Mental Health Patient Care Center at the James J Peters (Bronx) VA Medical Center. Duties include a full range of psycho‑diagnostic services, including assessment and the use of evidence‑based psychotherapeutic intervention techniques to provide quality care. The incumbent may participate in tele‑mental health or similar activities to provide service for Veterans. The psychologist will provide evidence‑based, recovery‑oriented services to veterans with substance use disorders and other co‑morbid mental health conditions as part of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in SRS. Function as a full member of the substance use disorder program’s mental health team – including active participation in treatment team meetings and engaging with Veterans through intake evaluations, psychological assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, psycho‑education/counseling, and psychoeducational groups. Have advanced knowledge of culturally sensitive psychological assessment techniques, diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral health, qualifying them to advise and consult professionals across disciplines. Employment Details Base pay range: $87,133.00/yr – $161,448.00/yr. Work schedule: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Benefits: 37–50 days of annual paid time off (13–26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays). Parental leave up to 12 weeks after 12 months of employment. Child care subsidy up to 25% of eligible childcare costs for families with total income below $144,000.
