The Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for proactively safeguarding associates, customers, and company assets across retail locations in the Greater Columbus and Dayton, Ohio markets. This role is focused on identifying and addressing potential risks before they result in loss, injury, or operational disruption by developing and implementing best practices, standard operating procedures, and preventive strategies that strengthen the overall security posture of the organization.

Working collaboratively with Operations and cross-functional business partners, the Loss Prevention Manager drives a culture of prevention through risk assessments, training, awareness initiatives, and operational compliance programs designed to reduce vulnerabilities and deter loss-inducing events. By leveraging data, trend analysis, and continuous improvement practices, this role helps enhance profitability, protect company resources, and promote a safe environment for associates and customers.

The Loss Prevention Manager also oversees the execution of loss prevention initiatives, conducts audits and compliance reviews, and builds strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and law enforcement agencies to minimize shrink, reduce risk exposure, and ensure sustainable long-term protection of company assets.

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 to 45 hours per week and maintain 24/7 on-call availability. Occasional after-hours response to emergencies, incidents, or investigations is required. This is not an armed position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve loss prevention programs, policies, procedures, and operational controls to reduce shrink and enhance safety.
• Utilize reporting to identify trends and areas creating loss potential.
• Develop mitigation strategies to reduce loss in high-risk areas of the business.
• Provide education to the store associate teams and leadership to promote awareness of loss prevention initiatives and best practices.
• Lead and participate in investigations involving suspected theft, fraud, policy violations, and other loss-related incidents.
• Conduct associate interviews and fact-finding investigations in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Communicate regularly with the Director of Loss Prevention to ensure timely escalation and resolution of incidents and investigations.
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies by providing supporting documentation, surveillance footage, sales records, and other evidence as needed.
• Manage incident cases from initiation through resolution, including court appearances when required.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with law enforcement partners and community stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely investigative, incident, and loss prevention reports.
• Conduct store audits to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards related to loss prevention.
• Ensure loss prevention equipment, including video surveillance systems, alarms, and related technologies, are properly installed, maintained, and functioning effectively.
• Support and coordinate video equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancement projects.
• Supervise and provide directions to part-time Loss Prevention team members to ensure the completion of assigned audits and operational reviews.
• Coordinate off-duty law enforcement officer details for designated locations.

Education and Experience

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in loss prevention, investigations, security, or a related field.
• Experience conducting investigations in the retail environment.
• Experience preparing loss prevention, security, or related report.

Preferred

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
• Experience working in a retail or convenience store environment.

Technical Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Experience using loss prevention, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, and case management systems preferred.
• Ability to learn and utilize new security technologies and software platforms.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel daily between multiple retail locations within the assigned territory and occasional trips to the corporate office in Cincinnati, Ohio.
• Ability to stand, walk, and conduct inspections for extended periods.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergency response situations as needed.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment or materials related to investigations and security projects.
• Ability to install video cameras and equipment in stores including use of ladders.
