Psychotherapist
$78k - $85kBroadway Community, Inc.
Job Description: Broadway Community seeks applicants for its newly created psychotherapist position. This is a full-time, fully in-person position and a three-year, grant-funded role, with current funding in place for the full grant period. The psychotherapist will be principally responsible for providing individual psychotherapy, completing clinical evaluations as part of New York City's 2010e supportive housing process, and leading clinical support groups. At launch, this role is grant-funded rather than insurance-supported and is not initially tied to insurance billing productivity requirements. Insurance billing may be introduced in year two or year three as the program develops. Organization Overview: Founded in 1982, Broadway Community’s mission is to serve as a bridge from crisis to stability for New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger, mental illness, and social isolation. Located on 114th Street and Broadway, we operate a robust continuum of care that includes a soup kitchen, a seven-night-a-week shelter, a food pantry, on‑site medical services, showers, case management, supportive counseling, employment assistance, housing navigation, and more. Each week, we help hundreds of our neighbors meet their basic needs and access the resources they need to improve their life circumstances. Core Responsibilities 1. Individual Psychotherapy (Approximately 20 - 25 weekly client‑facing hours) Provide weekly, trauma‑informed individual psychotherapy to adults referred by Broadway Community staff and partner agencies. Adapt to each client’s needs and readiness for change. Structure treatment in six‑month episodes of care, completing progress reviews and planning warm handoffs to pro‑bono therapists or continued care when appropriate. Maintain clear, timely documentation in our Apricot case management system. 2. Psychiatric Evaluations and Care Coordination Complete psychiatric evaluations for guests pursuing 2010e supportive housing applications. Coordinate closely with external psychiatrists (including Janian Medical Care) for medication management and higher levels of care. Work with our on‑site medical clinic to align physical and behavioral health care. Aim to connect 100% of clients who seek psychiatric medication with a prescriber. 3. Clinical and Peer Groups In close partnership with the Director of Social and Spiritual Support (Chaplain), design and co‑facilitate support groups for guests of our soup kitchen and shelter. Track attendance, engagement, and qualitative outcomes. 4. Evaluation and Data Conduct structured narrative intake assessments, including client‑identified goals. Administer evidence‑based screening tools (e.g., PHQ‑9, BDI‑II, GAD‑7, etc.) for relevant clients at intake and every six months. Contribute to quarterly and annual program reviews, summarizing outcomes and trends. Produce depersonalized case summaries at termination to support learning and program improvement. 5. Supervision, Training, and Capacity Building Receive direct administrative supervision from the Executive Director and work closely with Broadway Community’s Director of Social and Spiritual Support. Help establish and supervise a graduate‑level clinical internship as the program matures. Support a small network of pro‑bono clinicians who each see one to two Broadway Community clients. Qualifications Required Licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed psychologist (PhD/PsyD), or licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in New York State. Demonstrated commitment to working with people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and systemic marginalization. Experience facilitating clinical or psychoeducational groups. Comfort working in a fast‑paced, low‑barrier, community setting (soup kitchen/shelter environment). Excellent boundaries, judgment, and ability to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team. Strong documentation and organizational skills. Preferred At least 3 years of post‑licensure clinical experience (or equivalent), including work with serious mental illness, trauma, and co‑occurring substance use. Bilingual English/Spanish (strongly preferred) Experience in person‑centered (Rogerian), CBT, and DBT‑informed practice. Experience with homeless services, supportive housing, or street outreach. Familiarity with FQHCs, Medicaid/insurance billing, and New York City’s mental health and housing systems. Compensation and Benefits Salary in the range of $78,000 to $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and aligned with internal equity. Fully covered health insurance premiums for the employee. Flexible spending account (FSA). Affordable dental and vision plan options. Paid vacation, sick time, and organizational holidays, including the last two weeks of August and optional time off in the last two weeks of December, subject to program needs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
