Job Title Fragrance Lab Technician Job Summary The Fragrance Lab Technician supports the research and development product development team by compounding fragrance samples, maintaining laboratory supplies, and performing basic quality control testing. This role focuses on preparing fragrance sample back‑orders, fulfilling sample requests in a timely manner, and assisting perfumers and the applications lab with general compounding duties. The technician helps ensure the lab operates efficiently, remains clean and organized, and that all fragrance formula documentation is accurate and secure. Responsibilities Compound fragrance sample back‑orders according to established formulas and procedures. Fulfill fragrance sample requests accurately and in a timely manner to support internal and external project needs. Assist with ordering and stocking raw materials to ensure the fragrance lab remains well supplied. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly laboratory environment at all times, following established housekeeping and safety practices. Print fragrance formula batch sheets and maintain the security and confidentiality of all formula documentation. Conduct general quality control tests on compounded materials and complete all required paperwork and records. Assist perfumery staff with general compounding duties and preparation of fragrance samples. Provide support to the applications lab as needed, collaborating with team members on product development activities. Follow standard operating procedures and quality guidelines to ensure consistent and reliable lab work. Communicate effectively with the R&D product development team to prioritize tasks and meet project timelines. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in compounding, preferably in a fragrance, flavors, or related laboratory environment. Hands‑on experience with wet chemistry or similar laboratory techniques. Ability to accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw materials for compounding. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation. Ability to follow written formulas, batch sheets, and standard operating procedures consistently. Organizational skills to manage multiple sample requests and back‑orders efficiently. Basic understanding of quality control principles in a lab or product development setting. Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative R&D product development team. Time management skills to meet deadlines and respond promptly to sample requests. Additional Skills & Qualifications Chemistry or Biology degree preferred but not required. Product development internship or experience in flavors, food chemistry, food science, food quality, testing, or research and development is highly beneficial. Interest in the flavor and fragrance industry and sensory‑driven product development. Strong communication skills to collaborate with perfumery staff, applications lab personnel, and other team members. Proactive approach to learning new lab techniques and processes. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced R&D environment. Work Environment Bright, clean laboratory with an open modern space and a central atrium.
