Maintenance Technician

The University of Evansville Facilities Management and Planning department is seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Technician to join our campus operations team. This is a full-time, in-person position operating on the first shift, working directly for the University to ensure our academic, residential, and administrative facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient. Key Responsibilities Building & Systems Maintenance: Complete repairs, construction, and maintenance of university buildings and systems. Respond to work order requests providing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC support. Mechanical & Systems Operations: Perform skilled installation, operation, maintenance, modification, and repair of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration control systems. System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Interpret Energy Management System (EMS) alarms, temperature, and pressure differentials to troubleshoot issues and optimize building performance. Preventive Maintenance: Ensure the proper operation of pumps, engines, motors, and compressors; maintain electronic test equipment and mechanical tools according to operator manuals. Structural & Trade Support: Perform routine carpentry and basic plumbing/electrical repairs based on work orders or oral instructions to update university equipment and materials. Digital Documentation: Accurately track repair costs and labor hours using our mobile CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) app. Collaborative Service: Promote cooperation, trust, and exceptional customer service across our multi-trade environment, and assist with other university duties and events as required. Required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills. Licensure: Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record to operate university vehicles and equipment. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build professional relationships and communicate clearly in a service-oriented setting. Physical & Operational Requirements Schedule: Full-time, in-person position operating during the first shift. Strength & Agility: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and perform repetitive motions. Environment: Comfortable working in various conditions, including exposure to hot/cold outdoor temperatures and proximity to hazardous building materials (e.g., solvents, asbestos). Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, and the ability to operate motorized campus equipment. Why Join the UE Facilities Team?
