Sports Therapist

JOB TITLE: Sport Therapist REPORTING TO: Head of Medical Services DEPARTMENT: Sporting LOCATION: City Football Academy (Orangeburg, NY) Position Overview The Sport Therapist will be primarily responsible for managing health care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation programs in coordination with the Head of Medical Services. Specifically, the design and implementation of plan of care strategies for daily and long-term health of 1st Team athletes including hands on therapy, strength and conditioning and recovery strategies. The therapist will assist in injury evaluation and risk analysis for first team and provide medical expertise for athlete health and performance. What You’ll Do Working in collaboration with the Medical Staff and under the supervision of the VP of Performance and Head of Medical Services, the Sport Therapist will: Provide orthopedic assessment, hands on treatment and injury prevention strategies to support athletes for daily training sessions and rehabilitation. Assist in the design and implementation of plan of care for injured athletes for successful return to play and re-injury mitigation. Coordinate all daily treatment strategies with Head of Medical Services on current players regarding daily issues, return to play, and preventative care. Design specific sessions including hands on therapy, gym-based programming, and recovery strategies based on player's individual needs in conjunction with other programs designed by the Human Performance team. Document daily treatments provided, updates on plans of care, and availability status of players. Assist in post-practice and post-game recovery efforts. Ensure the maintenance of the training room and clinic area as a safe, clean, and organized environment. Electronically document accurate first report of injury, physician diagnosis, player assessments, player treatments, and return to play dates. Compile reports as required by the League. What You’ll Bring Doctor of Physical Therapy or PhD preferred Licensed and registered to work as a physical therapist in the USA (American Physical Therapy Association) Licensed and registered to work as a physical therapist in the State of New York 1+ years' experience working with elite (collegiate or professional) athletes Professional soccer experience is preferred Who You Are At New York FC, we are committed to upholding our core club values and our values guide how we show up and work together every day. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
