Summary You will serve as a Secretary (OA) in the Tactical Electronic Warfare, Code 572000 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY. Responsibilities You will provide daily supervision and work assignments to Branch admin personnel. You will ensure that the Branch office operates smoothly and efficiently. You will compose drafts for inquiries, follow-up letters, memos, and Branch correspondence for Branch Head approval. You will finalize draft correspondence prepared by Branch personnel to ensure it is grammatically correct; free from errors; in proper format; and in conformance with procedural instructions and other applicable guidelines You will receive telephone messages and directs callers to appropriate Branch personnel and/or Branch Head based upon knowledge of Branch programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-01/04) or pay band (NC-01) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: (1) utilizing office automation equipment and processes; (2) performing administrative and clerical duties (e.g., filing, answering phone calls, making appointments); (3) generating reports, typing, ensuring grammatical correctness of correspondence, and ensuring proper routing procedures are followed; (4) providing assistance to others through customer service in an office/business setting; and (5) maintaining calendars. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school; or A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
