About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night and Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience required. License: State RN license required. Certifications: BLS and ACLS required. Must-Have: - Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required. - Basic Arrhythmia experience required. - Traveler will be required to pass a telemetry test prior to being cleared to start. Description: This position involves working a combination of day and night shifts. Nurses will provide care for patients requiring specialized care for cardiac and thoracic surgeries and procedures. The unit specializes in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplants, and cardiac medical patients. Common procedures include CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, and various interventions. The nursing team is comprised of care team leaders and registered nurses who supervise and provide direct patient care. Typical nurse assignments involve caring for 1-2 patients, with potential for 3 patients if acuity is low. Interdisciplinary support is available from various team members such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Nurses are expected to demonstrate technological expertise while delivering patient-centered care. This role requires managing a range of medical equipment and devices typically utilized in a cardiovascular intensive care setting. Staff are supported as they navigate the complexities of their shift, with charge nurses and resources readily available. Delivery of care is expected to uphold the highest standards to meet patient and family needs. The unit features private rooms capable of ICU-level care, accommodating a dynamic range of patient conditions.
