Albuquerque Behavioral Care is an outpatient behavioral health program providing structured treatment and recovery support to adults in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Position Summary

The Certified Peer Support Worker will provide recovery-focused and person-centered support through structured peer-support groups, individual peer-support sessions, resource coordination, advocacy, and assistance with daily program needs.

This position works closely with our licensed clinical team, case management staff, and Director of Operations . The selected candidate must be able to build supportive relationships, maintain professional boundaries, and complete documentation accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer-support services to clients.
• Create and facilitate structured recovery-focused groups .
• Encourage clients as they work toward individualized care plans and personal recovery goals.
• Assist with client intake and insurance verification.
• Connect clients with community resources and support services.
• Monitor client progress, behavior, and overall well-being.
• Report concerns promptly to supervisors and members of the care team.
• Complete case notes, progress reports, and required documentation accurately and on time.
• Help de-escalate crisis situations using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.
• Advocate for clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Collaborate with counselors, social workers, nurses, case managers, providers, and operations staff.
• Assist the clinical and operations teams with daily program needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervision.
• Follow all HIPAA, confidentiality, safety, ethical, and organizational requirements.
• Perform other reasonable duties related to peer support and program operations as assigned.

Professional Scope

The Certified Peer Support Worker is a valued member of the care team but does not replace a licensed clinician.

This position does not independently:

• Diagnose clients
• Conduct clinical assessments
• Develop or modify clinical treatment plans
• Provide psychotherapy
• Make clinical admission or discharge decisions

All services must remain within the employee’s verified credentials, training, supervision, organizational policies, and applicable requirements .

Qualifications

• Active New Mexico Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW) credential preferred
• Personal lived experience relevant to behavioral health, substance-use recovery, or related support services
• Peer support, behavioral health, recovery, or case management experience preferred
• Strong communication, organization, group-facilitation, and documentation skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Ability to work respectfully with clients from diverse backgrounds
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic documentation
• CPR, First Aid, crisis-intervention, trauma-informed care, Mental Health First Aid, or related training preferred
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required, depending on assigned duties
• Ability to satisfy applicable background-screening and employment requirements

Schedule and Compensation

• Full-time position
• Monday–Friday
• 40 hours per week
• $24.00–$28.00 per hour
• Estimated annual compensation: $49,920–$58,240
• Specific daily hours may be adjusted according to client and program needs

Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s CPSW credentials, relevant experience, group-facilitation abilities, documentation skills, additional certifications, and ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
