VP Finance @ Start Up SAAS

Coda Search has partnered with a venture-backed Series A SaaS company that is experiencing rapid growth and building momentum in its market. The company is looking to bring on a Vice President of Finance to establish and lead its accounting and finance function from the ground up. This influential position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serve as a strategic partner to the executive team and board of directors, shaping the financial infrastructure needed to support the company’s next stage of growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead the accounting and finance function, including designing the team structure and hiring key personnel as the company scales.
• Establish a reliable monthly close process and produce accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process, partnering with department heads to align spending with company objectives.
• Develop and track core SaaS metrics, including ARR, MRR, net revenue retention, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and burn rate.
• Prepare board materials and investor updates, and present financial results and strategic recommendations to the board of directors.
• Oversee cash management, treasury, and runway planning to support disciplined capital allocation.
• Select and implement scalable financial systems and tools, including the ERP, billing, and expense management platforms.
• Establish internal controls, accounting policies, and operational procedures that support audit readiness.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other service providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or MBA preferred.
• Minimum of ten years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least three years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Previous experience building or scaling the finance function at a venture-backed SaaS or technology company.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription businesses.
• Demonstrated experience preparing board materials and engaging with investors.
• Experience supporting equity fundraising processes and audit preparation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation abilities, with a hands-on approach suited to an early-stage environment.
