JOB SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Equipment/Facilities Maintenance Group Leader, the Equipment Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of the CNC machinery and equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following: Assemble and install machinery and equipment to include wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing and programming to meet specifications. Study blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery and equipment. Prepare requisition for parts and materials needed to perform the job and record parts and materials used. Analyze test results, machine error messages and information obtained from operators to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems. Repair or replace defective parts and reassemble machinery and equipment. Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters and other testing devices. Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment including cleaning, lubricating and adjusting parts to be certain that the machinery and equipment continue to run smoothly. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Reassemble machinery and equipment after completion of inspections, testing and/or repairs. Record and maintain records of repairs and maintenance performed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes. Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible. Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated, including inspection equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to use hand and power tools including hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments, electrical and electronic testing devices. Ability to perform skilled work in a variety of building trades. Must be able to interpret and work from sketches, blue-prints or drawings. Must be knowledgeable of occupational hazards and OSHA regulations in the machining industry. Experience in operating a forklift, crane and overhead hoist.
