Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role requiring Level II trauma experience and trauma/general surgery post-op expertise.

Details

• Acute Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with heavy trauma and GI post-op patient population
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Candidates will float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• 14-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (KY State or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
• Level II trauma center experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Trauma and general surgery post-op patient care experience required
• Experience with abdominal surgeries, tracheostomy care, foley catheters, surgical drains, wound vacs, ostomy care, ports, PICCs, and TPN/lipids required
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• At least one professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for trauma, GI, and general surgery post-op patients in a progressive care setting
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have Level I trauma center experience
• Must be able to work 3 of 5 winter holidays, with holiday time-off requests coordinated on-site rather than pre-approved
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration; requests made after offer will not be approved
• Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Previous UK-affiliated staff must have a 6-month gap in employment before returning as a traveler
• Any history of licensure action/hits will disqualify candidates from consideration at this facility
