Luminis Health Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist Reports to: Clinical Director - Nursing Job Code 002025 FLSA Status: Exempt Position Objective: To promote the delivery of high quality, cost-effective health care through the provision of expert clinical staff education and professional development. Collaborates with the leadership team, clinical education team, and clinical staff in the planning and implementation of organizational and departmental goals, creating a climate of innovation through role-modeling, consultation, research, and the facilitation of learning.

1. Provides expertise and support to nurses caring for patients at the bedside.
2. Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge and skill in Critical Care Nursing.
3. Models expert practice to peers, inter-professional team members, health care consumers and learners.
4. Collaborates with department/unit directors, inter-professional clinical leaders, clinical educators, and clinical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) staff to assess, plan, implement and evaluate processes, clinical education and staff performance that supports organizational annual operating plan and department goals.
5. Assists in the development of ongoing competencies for clinical ICU and CVICU staff prioritizing based on practice competency gaps, new skills requirements, changes in process or procedure, high risk and problematic aspects of the clinical role based on quality improvement and process improvement data.
6. Promotes the development of ICU and CVICU nurses by offering a variety of learning opportunities planned for nurses in different stages of the Novice to the Expert continuum.
7. Assess the need, quality, and cost-effective educational programs for staff. Seeks experiences to develop, maintain, and improve competence in nursing professional development.
8. Helps drive practice changes with collaborative partnerships
9. Provide professional support to internal and external customers during the implementation of new products and change initiatives.
10. Scans the environment for trends and issues that require change, and collaboratively creates implements and assist in maintaining change.
11. Participates in ICU and CVICU specific and hospital-wide quality improvement activities and actively participates in the activities of the Clinical Education Council.
12. Ensure the use of best practices and evidence-based care
13. Recommends practice changes.
14. Disseminates research findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.
15. Promotes, encourages, facilitates, conducts and participates in research, evidence-based practice (EBP) and quality improvement (QI) activities.

Educational/Experience Requirements: Master`s Degree in Nursing. Doctoral Degree (DNP or PhD) preferred. Five years as a Registered Nurse in a Critical Care Setting. Required License/Certifications: Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS. Clinical Nurse Specialist Board certification: As required by the Maryland Board of Nursing, all requirements to practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist has been met. Maintains membership to professional organization. Adherence to credentialing requirements of AAMC as stated in the nursing bylaws.

Pay Range $83,000 $125,000 USD
