Duties Manage complaints regarding various codes, either on the phone, in office meetings, or during on-site inspections. Works with the general public to obtain compliance. Make on-site inspections to ensure compliance with applicable City ordinances and building codes. Review plans for minor building projects such as carports, fences, driveways, etc. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Position Levels and Qualifications Building Services Inspector I/II (Hourly $19.75 – $24.73) Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Required: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days). Required: Two years of experience in Code Enforcement or an equivalent combination of education and related field experience. Required: State Code Enforcement Officer Certification or ability to attain within one year. Preferred: State Code Enforcement Officer Certification. Preferred: Texas State Plumbing Inspectors License or ability to attain within two years. Preferred: Certification in one of the following commercial or residential codes: Building Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Fuel Gas Energy Conservation Building Service Inspector III (Hourly $22.11 – $27.64) Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Required: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days). Required: Three years of experience in a paraprofessional municipality related role. Required: State Code Enforcement Officer Certification or ability to obtain within one year. Required: Texas State Plumbing Inspectors License. Required: Certification in one of the following commercial or residential codes: Building Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Fuel Gas Energy Conservation Preferred: Certifications in three of the commercial and/or residential codes listed above. Preferred: State Code Enforcement Officer Registration, Texas Department of Health. Building Service Inspector IV (Hourly $25.02 – $31.27) Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Required: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days). Required: Five years of experience in a paraprofessional municipality related role. Required: State Code Enforcement Officer Certification or ability to obtain within one year. Required: Texas State Plumbing Inspectors License. Required: ICC Certification as a Combination Commercial or Residential Inspector. Preferred: ICC Combination Inspector. Preferred: State Code Enforcement Officer Registration, Texas Department of Health. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of City, State, and National codes. Ability to read plans, inspect structures for code compliance, and communicate with contractors and the general public. Ability to get along appropriately with co‑workers and the public.
