Reason for Coverage: One provider will be unavailable for a few weeks due to personal commitments.

Setting:

This position involves OBGYN hospital duties and on-call responsibilities, with the possibility of clinic coverage. Candidates must be prepared to handle both aspects to be considered for this opportunity. If clinic duties are taken on, night calls will not be required following clinic days.

Available Dates:

• July: 20, 24-26
• August: 3, 10, 12, 17, 21-23, 31
• September: 4-6, 10, 14, 18-20, 24, 28
• October: 5, 12, 16-18, 22, 26
• November: 2, 9, 20-23, 27, 30
• December: 7, 17, 21, 25-27, 29, 31

Ongoing availability is essential, and we are currently coordinating specific dates.

Call Ratio:

1:4

Facility Details:

• Total Number of Beds: 9 in Labor & Delivery and 20 in postpartum
• Number of Physicians: 4
• Support Staff: OBHG hospitalist, surgical assistants, and 3 to 4 nurses per shift
• Average Nursery Admissions: 2 to 3 per day
• Average Callbacks: Less than 1 per 24-hour shift, with calls routed through an answering service

EMR System:

EPIC

Required Procedures:

Proficiency in the following procedures is necessary:

• C-sections
• Vaginal deliveries
• Suction D&C
• Ectopic pregnancies
• Ovarian torsion
• Management of abnormal bleeding

Most high-risk patients will be managed by Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists. Additionally, the Laborist will oversee unreferred patients for deliveries and rounding in the hospital.

Licensure:

Must hold a valid license in Virginia.
