Aquatic Maintenance TechnicianPosition Summary
The Aquatic Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of aquatic facilities, including swimming pools, waterparks, aquatic centers, spray grounds, and public interactive water features. This position helps ensure the safe operation of aquatic facilities in accordance with state and local health standards for the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
Essential FunctionsPerform routine and emergency repair and maintenance of pumps, motors, chemical feeders and controllers, autofill systems, backwash filters, pool surfaces, waterslides, play structures, and other pool equipment.
Maintain proper water chemistry and clarity by conducting various water quality tests, diagnosing issues, calculating chemical requirements, and adding chemicals as needed to meet state and local health standards and prevent waterborne illnesses.
Follow manufacturer and environmental guidelines for the handling, storage, and use of pool chemicals and other hazardous materials.
Maintain all pool masonry, including plaster, tile, coping stone, concrete decks, and pool surfaces to ensure patron safety and preserve the appearance of pools, spray grounds, and fountains.
Examine aquatic facility water circulation and filtration systems to identify operational defects through troubleshooting and diagnostic methods.
Maintain and repair aquatic facility amenities and equipment, including ladders, lifeguard stands, climbing walls, diving boards, waterslides, and play features to ensure safe operation and overall facility condition.
Perform winterization procedures and preventive maintenance tasks to preserve and extend the lifespan of facility equipment and features.
Inspect aquatic facilities for safety hazards and operational concerns.
Complete inspection checklists, inventories, maintenance records, and other required documentation.
Contribute to team efforts by performing related duties as assigned to support departmental goals and objectives.
Knowledge of aquatic facility maintenance and repair practices.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, filtration systems, and aquatic equipment.
Ability to safely handle and store pool chemicals and hazardous materials.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
This position requires reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and properly functioning aquatic facilities for the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
