Amara Hospice Care is seeking a Per Diem Board-Certified Music Therapist: Oakland, Wayne Counties and surrounding Areas: (full time is an option)

The Music Therapist is responsible for providing music therapy under the direction of their director according to the patient's unique plan of care. This person must be certified and willing to travel within a territory to complete requested music therapy sessions with our hospice patients. The Music Therapist will be paid per visit and be compensated per mile traveled according to the company policies.  The Music Therapist will complete timely documentation and communicate with multiple professionals on the interdisciplinary team. The Music Therapist will also participate in memorial services and different marketing events held at various facilities. This is a Per Diem position and is flexible within regular workday hours. 

Responsibilities: 

• Direct and assist patients and family members through various music therapy interventions to address symptoms including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, improved mood, insomnia, pain, tension, relaxation, and comfort. 

• Provides ongoing education to the clinical team of appropriateness and/or contraindications for treatment. 

• Maintains necessary records; clinical notes, charting, coordination notes, which will be incorporated into the patient's clinical record within 24 hours of session. 

• Facilitate music for memorial services and various marketing events in the area. 

Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited music therapy program 

• Licensure/Certification: Current MT-BC certification from Certification Board for Music Therapists. 

• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order.  

• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. 

• Strong vocal and guitar skills with quick problem-solving and adaptability in sessions. 

• Valid driver’s license. 

Preferences: 

•     Master’s degree in music therapy 

•     Neurologic music therapist (NMT) designation 

•     1 year minimum music therapist experience

Pay: $45 per session. plus mileage per company protocol.
