Manager Of Carrier & Profit Management Castlegate Forwarding is seeking a dynamic leader to help us continue evolving and improving our Drayage operations as our growing business scales in volume and complexity. CastleGate Forwarding (CGF) is an exciting, fast‑growing digital freight forwarder within Wayfair, moving containers globally to Wayfair's shelves and beyond. As the 7th largest home importer in the US, we offer a full suite of shipping services including Asia consolidation, ocean freight, haulage, customs brokerage, and cargo insurance providing Wayfair suppliers with competitive and efficient logistics solutions. Our proprietary end‑to‑end logistics network enhances speed, quality, and cost efficiency. As the Manager of Carrier & Profit Management within Destination Operations you will lead the team responsible for the overall management of our Drayage Carrier network and the monitoring of our Drayage P&L. This is a highly impactful role that directly supports both our ambitious growth and profitability aspirations! What you will do: Build an industry leading drayage carrier network as the owner of the procurement process, define carrier strategies, execute annual Request for Proposals (RFPs), negotiate rates, develop long‑term trusted relationships with a focus on staying ahead of market trends, driving continuous improvements and providing innovative logistics solutions. Formally lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of two direct reports (an Associate and a Senior Associate), coaching them on day‑to‑day carrier coordination, metric tracking, and operational problem‑solving. Drive consistently high service levels with rigorous data driven performance management and accountability from our Carrier network via regular and ad‑hoc structures (e.g., Weekly and Quarterly Business Reviews, Escalations, Feedback Mechanisms, etc). Ensure our P&L goals are achieved through tight collaboration across Sales, Pricing, Finance, and Operations, monitor our P&L through dynamic visibility tools, and resolve challenges impacting the P&L. Future‑proof and scale our drayage infrastructure to support aggressive hyper‑growth, expanding our network capacity from 30k containers to over 100k containers within the next 35 years by identifying and onboarding strategic carriers who can grow with us. Act as the ultimate owner of the end‑to‑end carrier lifecycle – uniquely blending corporate procurement (RFPs & contract signing), real‑time operational performance management (KPI enforcement), and central P&L financial analysis into a singular, autonomous function. What you'll need: A Bachelor's or Master's degree. 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in strategic relationship management within logistics, consulting, or carrier operations. Demonstrable experience in logistics, supply chain, procurement, or operations management, with a track record of driving results. Experience managing, developing and coaching a high performing team is required. Knowledge of freight forwarding and or drayage is a significant advantage for this role. Strong negotiation and vendor performance management skills, with expertise in contract negotiations, rate benchmarking, and business reviews (RFP execution is a plus). Proven analytical and data driven skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across all levels of an organization and with both internal and external stakeholders.
