Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring PCU or SD experience and ventilator experience.

Details

• 36-bed Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory intermediate care unit within a hospital setting
• Mixed acuity med-surg/intermediate care unit currently serving as a high-risk respiratory unit and returning to neuro intermediate care as census allows
• Patient population includes CVA, TIA, seizures, and other neurological diagnoses
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Unit utilizes a team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partnering to care for patients, and nurses may function in either team or primary nursing roles
• Uses heated high flow nasal cannula and BiPAP equipment
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Floating required with priority given to travelers, including floating within the Neuro ICU and across Premier's Dayton main campus, Centerville south campus, and Englewood north campus
• Every other weekend and holiday work required
• Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio or Compact)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; IV Start certification preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
• PCU or Stepdown (SD) experience required; ICU experience does not count toward this requirement
• Ventilator experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must complete an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Travel experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be accepted

Additional Information

• Provide skilled nursing care to a diverse neuroscience and high-risk respiratory patient population
• When assigned to the high-risk respiratory unit, staff may be assigned appropriate patients within the Neuro ICU and paired with a buddy for support
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after an offer is made
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Any previous permanent, PRN, or agency staff of the facility not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler
• Facility rehire approval is required for any previous employees before an offer can be made
• Lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing the contract
• Travelers are not eligible for facility employee incentives
