Role Summary The Superintendent 3 will plan, manage and execute all aspects of assigned projects with moderate complexity. This position will manage the team, plan construction sequencing, and meet project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion. All activities support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. Key Role Responsibilities – Core Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment through individual actions and mentoring others. Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow. Manages and oversees staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small or major project. Develops work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work. Coordinates and manages the care, custody and control of the project site. Leads daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings. Attends, manages and participates in progress and OAC meetings. Creates, manages, changes and implements the project’s schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager. Tracks and monitors project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports. Communicates key project information to owners, the design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments. Follows the project filing and documentation organization system. Updates drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks. Approves and/or records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports, logs, and tracking reports. Evaluates progress on self‑perform work and makes adjustments as needed. Manages material and equipment needs for the project. Supports the MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes. Assists in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self‑perform operations. Manages timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes. Ensures quality compliance through specifications, quality standards, in‑house QA/QC, and outside resources. Supports project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and governing authorities. Understands the project pursuit process and methodology. Participates with field operations leadership and the project team to develop a project pre‑plan and monitors adjustments throughout the project lifecycle. Partners with field leadership to establish field staffing. Partners with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of project changes. Participates in negotiation with owners and architects for project changes. Prepares and presents at all project review meetings, including monthly reviews and other key meetings. Participates in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors. Understands and applies contract terms and conditions. Identifies and recruits top talent. Leads, supports and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn, ensuring non‑discrimination throughout the organization. Assumes responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality of their project or portion of the project. Identifies, understands and actively manages project risks. Effective presentation skills (Intermediate). Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate). Fundamentals of construction management methods and means. Understanding of project processes and their support for success. Relationship building with team members beyond a single project. Proficiency in project management and accounting software (Intermediate). Proficiency in required JE Dunn construction technology (Intermediate). Proficiency in scheduling software (Intermediate). Application of Lean process and philosophy (Intermediate). Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (Intermediate). Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity (Intermediate). Budget management, profitability maximization and relationship‑driven future work (Intermediate). Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources. Advanced layout skills. Advanced crane flagging and rigging knowledge. Understanding of document changes and their impact on the schedule. Collaboration within a team, internally and externally. Education High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (Preferred). Experience 8+ years construction experience. 5+ years field supervision experience. Experience with Lean principles (Preferred). Working Environment Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. May require periods of travel and/or relocation. May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold). Must be willing to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. Frequent activities: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
