This role is responsible for setting vision and direction, ensuring consistency across councils, supervising staff, overseeing risk management and compliance, and strengthening assessment and documentation practices. The Director also serves as a key liaison to campus leadership, alumni, and national organizations while guiding program growth, culture, and student engagement in alignment with institutional goals.

Support the development of a functional staff structure where responsibilities are clearly defined, documented, and sustainable. Translate program review findings into actionable priorities, timelines, and measurable outcomes for the office. Lead the advancement of a cohesive FSL vision that strengthens the student experience, increases visibility, and supports progress toward institutional goals. Promote a culture of proactive planning, documentation, and follow-through across the FSL team. Foster the development and effectiveness of the FSL team through coaching and ongoing feedback, while maintaining direct supervision and evaluation of the Assistant Director. Serve as a bridge between academic priorities and student engagement by aligning chapter operations, leadership development, and programming with institutional learning outcomes and academic expectations.

COUNCIL ADVISEMENT AND PROGRAMMING : Establish and enforce consistent expectations, standards, and procedures across all councils (CPC, IFC, NPHC, MGC) through the FSL Policy Manual. Oversee council strategy and accountability while delegating routine council engagement to the Assistant Director and Coordinators. Oversee high-level concerns, crisis situations, and sensitive matters involving council leadership, alumni, or national organizations. Ensure councils operate in alignment with university policies, intake procedures, and established expectations. Guide the intentional development of programs, training, and experiences that support student leadership growth and belonging. Design, implement, and assess leadership development and officer transition initiatives for FSL leaders, ensuring continuity, effective governance, and the successful preparation of new officers to lead their chapters and councils. Collaborate with campus partners (e.g., Student Conduct, Title IX, Public Safety, Legal Affairs) as needed. Lead the integration of preventive education by facilitating scenario-based learning experiences aligned with AFA¿s Student Safety competency to address risk management, bystander response, and organizational responsibility. Implement an Electronic Case Management System to track reports, trends, and resolutions across all councils.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS AND REPRESENTATION: Manage high-level relationships with alumni chapters, national organizations, consultants, and senior campus leadership. Represent Fraternity & Sorority Life in institutional conversations that impact policy, resources, space, and long-term planning. Strengthening our advisor and alumni infrastructure by recruiting, onboarding, training, and supporting chapter advisors and alumni volunteers in alignment with institutional expectations and student development goals. Develop Annual FSL Impact Reports highlighting membership, GPA, retention, and engagement data.
