INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST

Responsibilities Professional and technical work in developing and implementing safety programs and procedures to mitigate or eliminate occupational health and safety hazards; meets with supervisors, managers and employees to discuss occupational health and safety issues in their work areas and to assist them in resolving such issues; conducts training for employees on the nature of hazards, warning signs of exposure, medical surveillance and protective measures; and related as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree* from an accredited college or university. A valid Driver's License.* Four (4) years professional level industrial or occupational health or safety experience. Certification Requirement Certification by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (formerly known as American Board of Industrial Hygiene) as a Certified Industrial Hygienist is preferred but not required at the time of hire. Candidates appointed to this position are required to obtain Certification by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing during their probationary period. Failure to receive certification will result in termination. Civil Service reserves the right to determine which certifications are relevant.
