POSITION : ESS RESEARCH AND RECORDS TECHNICIAN 2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR (4947) | JobID: 15517 DEPARTMENT : ESS | SALARY SCHEDULE : Education Support Professional | LOCATION : CEE | WORK YEAR : 12 Months | GRADE : 10 | STARTING HOURLY RATE : $23.87- $24.95 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION) Equal Opportunity Employer Summary: The ESS Research and Records Technician develops and maintains records and data necessary for ESS census, as well as other Federal, State, and District reports requiring data on students with disabilities, processes requests for ESS student records and maintains the record retrieval system. Essential Functions Prepares, updates and maintains a computerized file of verified ESS students, which is the Special Education Census submitted to the Arizona Department of Education twice per year. Assures compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act by maintaining physical security and confidentiality of records and determining the appropriateness of requests for ESS records requested by out-of-District agencies. Trains support personnel assigned to ESS Facilitators and acts as a resource for both the support personnel and the Facilitators. Maintains paperwork to ensure accurate census reporting. Coordinates the collection and compilation of data on students with disabilities with research staff for mandatory Federal, State, and District reports, as well as statistical publication prepared by the District. Works with research and technology staff to ensure that the SASI database for ESS functions properly and provides for the collection of all data needed for reporting purposes. Coordinates collection and maintenance of data with ESS staff on all campuses for reporting purposes. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned. Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years of experience working with student records or technical reports, including some data entry tasks. License and Certification Requirements: A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required. Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment. Ideal Candidates Will Have the Following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience applying Federal, State, and Board of Education regulations and policies regarding the referral, evaluation, placement and review of placement of students in ESS programs is preferred. Ability to analyze, evaluate and organize facts, and coordinate work of others. Ability to set up and maintain detailed, confidential records and prepare reports independently. Must be able to coordinate and communicate well with other department personnel, discuss problems and provide satisfactory results. Ability to work under pressure, assign priorities quickly, and solve problems at hand. Type with accuracy at 40 words per minute. Skill in organizing workflow and detailed record keeping. Ability to operate office equipment such as computer terminals, personal computers, printers, FAX machines, and photocopiers. Ability to identify and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and important information while using diplomacy and tact. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
