Chief Lending Officer

Chief Lending Officer Argent Credit Union, Chester, VA 23831, USA Argent Credit Union, a $550 million community credit union headquartered in the greater Richmond, Virginia area, seeks a Chief Lending Officer (CLO) to lead its entire lending program. The CLO will direct strategy, portfolio growth, risk management, compliance, and member experience across consumer, mortgage, and business loans. The CLO reports directly to the President and CEO and provides executive leadership across the lending lifecycle from application and underwriting through servicing and collections. Key Responsibilities Strategic oversight of the lending portfolio, driving sustainable growth while balancing yield and risk across consumer, auto, real estate, mortgage, and commercial segments. Risk management and compliance, ensuring adherence to NCUA, CFPB, BSA/AML, and internal policies, establishing underwriting standards, monitoring credit quality, and mitigating risk. Enhancing member experience, designing member‑centric products, and streamlining application, underwriting, and servicing processes, including digital platform improvements. Leading growth and innovation initiatives, expanding product offerings, identifying emerging opportunities, and leveraging technology for automated underwriting and advanced analytics. Qualifications Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience, with a senior‑level track record as Vice President or Senior Vice President of Lending. Strong background in consumer lending, particularly dealer finance, and experience with mortgage or business lending. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business required; master’s degree preferred. Prior credit union experience highly desirable.
