Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Unit Details: Nurse: patient ratios 4-5:1 (days), 5-6:1 (nights). Common diagnoses include GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms; mostly medical diagnoses, with patients returning to the unit after surgery or procedures. Heparin is the only titratable/set-rate drip. No vents; patients may have oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or PRN. Telemetry is monitored remotely via a house-wide telemetry department; unit equipment is primarily Phillips. 24-hour charge RN coverage, with the goal for the charge RN to be free of assignment; 24-hour Crisis RN coverage and an administrative supervisor available 24/7 as resources. 24-hour PCT coverage; PCT ratio is 1:10. RNs are expected to attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources if unsuccessful; the inpatient phlebotomy team is utilized for blood draws.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; nightshift weekend is Fri/Sat. Holidays rotated. No call.

Floating Requirements: Travel RNs are first to float as needed. Will float to other med/surg-like units. No ICUs and do not take care of chemo patients.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
