Overview

Schedule: 4 days /10hr shifts; 7am - 5:30pm with variable days of the week including weekends and holidays

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Surgical Technician I, under the direct supervision of the primary surgeon, holds retractors/instruments after placement by surgeon; sponges and/or suctions the operative site; cuts suture material. Assists surgeons in the Operating Room by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. Performs job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs. Works under the supervision of the circulating RN in the operating room suite. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care.

The Operating Room (OR) is a 15 surgical operating room unit that provides 24/7 surgical care to children of all ages (neonate to adult) who are to undergo general anesthesia for operative or other invasive procedures, with an estimated surgical case volume of 17,000 surgical cases a year. We work with the following specialty groups to provide care: Anesthesiology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Cardiothoracic surgery, Dentistry, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, General pediatric surgery/Abdominal Transplant, Hematology/Oncology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Maxillofacial surgery, Pulmonology, and Urology.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1+years' Operating Room experience in a variety of surgical specialties. Communicate effectively and tactfully with patients.

Education/Licensure/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of Operating Room Technician Training Course or equivalent. Current BLS from AHA

Pay Scale Information

USD $57,949.00 - USD $95,202.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
