The Work You Will Do: DOT Intern-TPK Internship and Various Departments within Turnpike Enterprise This position will provide interns with hands-on learning opportunities across the transportation industry. Interns will support a variety of tasks within multiple departments, including areas such as Transportation Development, Toll Operations, Highway Operations, Administration, Finance, and Information Technology. They will assist with research, data analysis, and project support activities while collaborating with executive leadership, team leaders, project managers, fellow interns, and external partners. Interns will actively participate in team projects, contribute to agency goals, and help support initiatives that drive innovation and continuous improvement across the organization. Internship opportunities may be available at the following work locations: MP 263, Ocoee, FL 34761 Suncoast Operations Building; 6638 Suncoast Parkway Land O' Lakes, FL 34639 Pompano Operations Center Hourly Rate: $ 15.00 Your Specific Responsibilities: Gain knowledge, skills and experience in the Transportation Industry. Assist in various tasks across different departments. Engage in research and provide insights to support initiatives. Interact with executive leadership, team leads, project managers, fellow interns, and external partners. Actively participate in team projects, contribute to agency goals, and assist in driving change within the organization. Review, gain general knowledge, and perform technical tasks within one of the following focus tracks: Engineering Track - (STEM Majors recommended, explores Professional Engineering roles) Transportation Overview, Planning and Environmental Management, Roadway Design, Drainage, Structures, Geomatics, Traffic Operations, Geotechnical, Construction Materials, Construction Management, Maintenance, Structures Maintenance, Tolls Operation. Transportation Track - (Any majors, explores transportation, in general, and how the agency contributes to providing a safe, efficient transportation system) Transportation Overview, Program Management, Work Program, Modal, Planning, Project Management, Construction, Traffic Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Tolls Operation. Business Track - (Any majors, explores the business side of running an agency) Information Technology, Tolls Operation, Administration, Transportation Overview, Work Program, Financial Services, Procurement, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Facilities Management, Right of Way Administration, Legal, Project Management, and Emergency Management. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: basic understanding and/or interest of transportation systems. departmental functions such as engineering, planning, Human Resources, IT, finance, business administration, or project management. Skills in: written and verbal communication Ability to: conduct research summarize findings to support decision-making use standard office software such as Microsoft Office Suite learn and apply new concepts, tools, and procedures quickly and effectively work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership. Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide identification supporting citizenship or authority to work for the duration of program participation.
