Details Float pool position covering multiple pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby Teaching hospital setting Patient ratio of 1:2 Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend and every other holiday required 13-week assignment length Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed Must float within scope of practice per facility float policy Requirements Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending licenses accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (can submit with certification pending) Preferred certifications: APHON, CPHON, OCN Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required Must be comfortable working in NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED Peds PACU experience highly preferred Previous travel/float pool experience required, though NICU/PICU float pool experience may be considered in lieu Teaching hospital experience required Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Previous charge experience preferred Additional Information Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric specialty units as part of a float pool team Skills utilized may include respiratory care (ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ETT/NT suctioning), IV therapy, central line management, and pediatric dosage calculations Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday, up to 16 non-billable hours Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with all RTO to be disclosed prior to offer acceptance No RTO approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment Disclose any planned vacation time between sign date and start date to help determine an appropriate start date Former UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience American Traveler Job ID P-736965.
