LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

ONLINE EXAM WINDOW TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 19-20, 2026 INTERVIEWS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 1-2, 2026 The Fresno County Department of Public Health invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technician. Incumbents are responsible for assisting with a variety of routine laboratory procedures including cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling laboratory equipment; preparing compounds, solutions, media, and reagents; and performing standardized bacteriological, chemical, and physical laboratory tests and sample analysis. OPTION 1

Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system. At least fifteen (15) of the required semester units must be in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related field. A copy of your transcripts verifying completion of coursework is required and must be attached to your application.

OPTION 2

Experience: Two (2) years of full time, paid laboratory work experience performing laboratory testing and sample analysis procedures. In addition to the options listed above, the following is required License Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

SELECTION PROCESS

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
