Senior Purchasing Agent (Construction)

Role: Senior Purchasing Agent (Must have construction experience) Location: New York City (Manhattan) Salary: ~ $200,000 Base Salary + Benefits We are currently representing a highly respected New York City General Contractor that is seeking a Senior Purchasing Agent to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a diverse portfolio spanning ground‑up multifamily, mixed‑use, commercial, affordable housing, adaptive use, and landmark projects throughout the NYC market. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in the procurement and buyout process, helping drive project success through strategic purchasing, subcontractor engagement, and vendor management. Key Responsibilities Lead procurement and purchasing activities across multiple construction projects Solicit, analyze, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals Manage project buyouts and contract award processes Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers Collaborate closely with Project Management, Estimating, and Operations teams Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and procurement strategies Support cost control initiatives while maintaining quality and schedule objectives Ideal Background Experience as a Purchasing Agent, Senior Purchasing Agent, Procurement Manager, or similar construction procurement role Strong understanding of the NYC construction market Experience across multifamily, mixed‑use, commercial, affordable housing, or landmark projects preferred Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills We are also very interested in speaking with Project Managers who have strong buyout and procurement experience and would be open to transitioning into a dedicated purchasing role.
