Cert Medical Asst Scribe (BMG) Featured Job Sign-On Bonus Location: Elkhart, IN Department: NCN Elkhart Facility: Beacon Medical Group Schedule: Full-time – Day (Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm) The purpose of this position is to handle time‑consuming clerical responsibilities for physicians during patient encounters. Scribes accompany a physician and directly observe patient encounters, accurately documenting events and decision‑making to produce appropriate medical charting. The Medical Scribe also completes clerical activities necessary to process physician orders for tests and medications. By relieving physicians of clerical duties, scribes enable them to spend more time with patients, improving patient flow and overall department efficiency. Keep everyone informed. Be on the team. Routine Clerical Duties Receiving and greeting all patients and visitors professionally and providing assistance. Receiving telephone calls and accurately relaying messages. Obtaining information from patients to complete records for payment, computer input, etc. Compiling a focused health record for providers by locating and organizing disparate parts of each patient’s medical record, including past EMR entries, written charts, and diagnostic studies. Patient Care Duties Recording real‑time documentation in the EMR for histories, physical exams, and patient courses. Preparing patients for examination. Assisting physicians and nurses with minor emergency or surgical procedures. Performing laboratory and EKG tests as ordered and collecting specimens for the lab. Administering and recording medications and injections as ordered. Interpreting physician instructions to patients and providing patient instructions. Maintaining supplies in exam rooms. Cleansing and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Scheduling office or hospital procedures. Preparing procedure orders and accompanying data for inpatient/outpatient studies. Managing medication dosages under physician direction and following up on patient compliance. Managing patient refills and ensuring correct dosing and adherence to provider instructions. Preloading patient information into the EMR, including diagnostic tests, health maintenance, and past surgical history. Accompanying physicians into examination rooms to transcribe histories, physical exams, and encounter documentation. Listing diagnoses and symptoms, follow‑up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated by physicians. Transcribing patient orders for laboratory, radiology, and medications. Documenting procedures performed by physicians. Identifying required quality measures and advising physicians. Entering spoken CPT and ICD‑10 codes as described by the provider. Advocating for patients by communicating their needs to providers. Other Functions Attending required meetings and participating in committees. Engaging in professional growth through in‑service meetings and approved educational programs. Completing other job‑related duties and projects as assigned. Organizational Responsibilities Attending and participating in department meetings, accountable for all shared information. Completing mandatory education, annual competencies, and department‑specific education within established timeframes. Completing annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. Maintaining license, certification, and registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year. Maintaining current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications required by position/department. Consistently using appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques. Adhering to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance. Complying with organizational and departmental policies. Being available for overtime and additional shifts or schedules when required. Use information to improve and advance. Communicate clearly and continuously. Education and Experience High‑school diploma or equivalent is preferred; must be a minimum of 17 years of age. Medical Assistant: graduate of an accredited associate degree Medical Assistant program and current certification through AAMA or similar organization (certification required). Previous medical office experience is desired. Knowledge & Skills Demonstrates knowledge and competency in performing patient‑care procedures, observations, treatments, and techniques utilized by the facility. Ability to perform venipuncture. High level of interpersonal and communication skills; professional greetings to visitors, clients, and staff. Effective written and verbal communication across internal and external contacts. Knowledge of billing, office procedures, and computer skills. Analytical skills to solve patient problems and interpret data. Promotes collaboration and innovation in clinical services to enhance interdisciplinary care. Ability to perform EKG and other applicable procedures. Accurate narrative writing in grammatically correct English. Spelling, proofreading, and editing written text. Understanding of physical exam process and ability to record exam details. Organizational skills focused on tracking patient care and improving flow. Solid understanding of quality measures and payer requirements. Proficiency in ICD‑10 documentation requirements. Working Conditions Works in a physician office environment. May require lifting or positioning of patients. Flexible hours and work schedule required. Physical Demands Requires the physical ability and stamina: walking/standing for prolonged periods, pushing carts/wheelchairs, lifting at least 50 pounds, positioning patients. $2,500.00 Sign On Bonus #J-18808-Ljbffr
