Shipping and Receiving Associate

The Shipping and Receiving Associate supports daily warehouse operations by unloading trucks, checking in shipments, processing inbound and outbound orders, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role combines hands-on material handling, documentation, and computer-based data entry to ensure all goods move efficiently, safely, and accurately through the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with unloading trucks and sea containers, ensuring all shipments are safely and efficiently removed and staged.
• Check in incoming shipments by verifying quantities, part numbers, and documentation against purchase orders and shipping papers.
• Receive and coordinate inbound orders by processing requests and supply orders, pulling materials, packing boxes, and placing completed orders in the designated delivery area.
• Control and take responsibility for all incoming and outgoing freight, including preparing and managing all required documentation, tracking information, and movement records.
• Sort and place materials or items on racks or in designated storage locations to maintain an organized warehouse.
• Assist with maintaining accurate inventory transactions, including performing data entry and supporting cycle counts as needed.
• Use computer systems to support shipping and receiving activities, including record keeping, data entry, and transferring information between systems.
• Operate a forklift safely to move, load, and unload materials and products within the warehouse.
• Perform general warehouse and clerical tasks related to shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
• Support other departments such as shipping, assembly, and warehouse operations by assisting with cross-functional tasks when needed.

Essential Skills

• Ability to assist in unloading trucks and sea containers and handle physical tasks safely.
• Proficiency in basic computer use for shipping and receiving, record keeping, and information transfer.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal form.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including checking in shipments and preparing outbound orders.
• Competence in inventory control and inventory management activities.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry for inventory and shipping documentation.
• Skill in safe forklift operation within a warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse environment performing material handling and inventory control.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems is preferred but not required.
• Experience in cycle counting and maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in shipping, assembly, and warehouse operations.
• Willingness to support various departments and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Joppa, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
