Position SummaryThe Edwin Joel Brown Site Lead is responsible for operating and overseeing the site's overall activities and programs during afterschool programming hours. This responsibility extends beyond the Scholars of H.O.P.E. Afterschool Program and includes all students and groups participating in activities at Edwin Joel Brown during designated afterschool hours, including student-athletes, sports teams, clubs, enrichment programs, partner-led activities, and other authorized groups. The Site Lead serves as the primary on-site point of coordination during afterschool hours. The Site Lead helps ensure that the building's afterschool activities operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with school, program, and partner expectations. For the Scholars of H.O.P.E. Afterschool Program, the Site Lead directly oversees daily operations, staff, scholars, volunteers, attendance, meal counts, family communication, and required program documentation. For other afterschool activities, the Site Lead coordinates with coaches, club leaders, school personnel, and program partners to support safe building use, effective communication, student accountability, emergency response, and orderly dismissal. The ideal candidate is an organized, dependable, and collaborative leader with experience managing people, coordinating multiple programs, and working with school-age children. Scope of ResponsibilityThe Site Lead provides overall operational coordination and site oversight during afterschool programming hours. This includes maintaining awareness of the activities occurring in the building, supporting safety and communication, coordinating shared spaces, responding to incidents, and promoting orderly dismissal.Coaches, club advisors, teachers, and partner-program leaders remain responsible for the direct instruction, activity leadership, supervision, attendance requirements, and program-specific decisions associated with their assigned teams, clubs, or programs. The Site Lead will work collaboratively with these individuals and will elevate serious or unresolved concerns to the Director of Out of School Time Programs and appropriate school personnel.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOverall Afterschool Site OperationsOperate and oversee Edwin Joel Brown's overall site activities during designated afterschool programming hours.Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for after-school operations and activities.Maintain awareness of all authorized after-school activities occurring within the building, including Scholars of H.O.P.E., athletics, sports practices, clubs, enrichment activities, partner programs, and other student groups.Coordinate with school administrators, coaches, club advisors, program staff, volunteers, and community partners to support organized and effective afterschool operations.Maintain an accurate daily schedule of afterschool activities, participating groups, assigned spaces, responsible adults, and dismissal times.Confirm that each afterschool activity is supervised by an authorized staff member, coach, advisor, volunteer, or program representative.Monitor common areas, entrances, exits, hallways, and shared spaces to help maintain an orderly and secure environment.Help coordinate the use of classrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, outdoor areas, and other shared program spaces.Address scheduling, space-use, supervision, or operational concerns and communicate unresolved issues to the Director of Out of School Time Programs and appropriate school personnel.Help ensure that students remain in authorized program areas and are supervised by the staff member, coach, club leader, or program representative responsible for their activity.Coordinate site-wide emergency responses during afterschool hours and ensure that appropriate school and program procedures are followed.Document and report accidents, injuries, behavior concerns, safety issues, facility concerns, and other significant incidents to the appropriate parties.Support orderly dismissal procedures for Scholars of H.O.P.E. participants, student-athletes, club participants, and students involved in other after-school activities.Help ensure that students leave the building through approved dismissal procedures and with authorized individuals or transportation providers, as applicable.Complete an end-of-day review of program areas and communicate any facility, security, or operational concerns to the appropriate personnel. Scholars of H.O.P.E. Program OperationsManage and oversee the daily operations of the Edwin Joel Brown Scholars of H.O.P.E. Afterschool Program.Ensure that the Scholars of H.O.P.E. program space is prepared to receive scholars and that activities begin and end on schedule.Create and maintain a safe, positive, inclusive, and well-organized learning environment.Welcome scholars upon arrival and oversee program-specific dismissal procedures.Record and maintain accurate daily scholar attendance and sign-in and sign-out records.Monitor scholar participation, behavior, safety, and overall well-being throughout program hours.Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to Scholars of H.O.P.E. staff.Assign daily staff responsibilities and ensure appropriate coverage for all program spaces and activities.Oversee volunteers serving with the Scholars of H.O.P.E. program, including providing direction, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring appropriate conduct and supervision.Maintain accurate daily meal and snack counts and submit required information to meal partners and program leadership.Ensure that meals and snacks are distributed according to program and partner requirements.Maintain accurate program records, including attendance forms, dismissal records, incident reports, meal counts, volunteer records, and other required documentation.Communicate respectfully and consistently with parents and guardians regarding attendance, dismissal, program updates, scholar needs, behavior concerns, and other relevant matters.Ensure that Scholars of H.O.P.E. classrooms, activity areas, and shared spaces remain clean, safe, and organized.Monitor program supplies and communicate supply or equipment needs to program leadership. Program Coordination and Staff CollaborationReport regularly to the Director of Out of School Time Programs regarding site operations, staffing, attendance, incidents, safety concerns, family communication, partner activities, and program needs.Collaborate with the Academic Site Coordinator to support academic instruction, enrichment activities, tutoring, homework assistance, and scholar engagement.Collaborate with the SEL Site Coordinator to support scholars' social-emotional development, positive behavior, conflict resolution, and overall well-being.Communicate with coaches, club advisors, school personnel, and partner-program representatives regarding schedules, space use, student movement, safety expectations, incidents, and dismissal procedures.Promote positive and professional working relationships among Scholars of H.O.P.E. staff, school personnel, coaches, club leaders, volunteers, and partner organizations.Model professional conduct, positive communication, teamwork, and appropriate interactions with all students and adults.Participate in required staff meetings, orientations, training sessions, special events, family activities, and program-planning meetings.Follow all emergency, safety, incident-reporting, confidentiality, and child-protection procedures.Complete additional site and program responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Out of School Time Programs or Omega Community Development Corporation leadership. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Candidates must:Hold a college degree from an accredited college or university.Have prior experience in a leadership, supervisory, management, or site-operations role.Have experience working directly with children or youth, preferably in an afterschool, educational, recreational, athletic, nonprofit, or community-based setting.Demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple activities, groups, staff members, volunteers, and shared spaces simultaneously.Demonstrate the ability to manage daily site operations and provide effective supervision to staff, scholars, and volunteers.Be able to pass required Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background checks.Be available Monday through Friday from 1:30–6:00 p.m. throughout the August 2026–May 2027 contract period.Be available for occasional additional hours, including staff meetings, training sessions, family events, athletic events, special programs, and other program-related responsibilities.Possess strong leadership, organization, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and recordkeeping skills.Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with students, parents, staff members, volunteers, coaches, club advisors, school personnel, community partners, and program leadership.Demonstrate dependability, sound judgment, flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm during emergencies and challenging situations.Be able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team. Preferred QualificationsPreference may be given to candidates who:Have previous experience leading an afterschool or youth-development program.Have experience overseeing a school-based program site or coordinating multiple youth activities simultaneously.Have experience supervising multiple staff members or volunteers.Have experience collaborating with athletic programs, clubs, schools, or community-based partners.Have knowledge of positive youth-development practices, classroom management, behavior support, family engagement, and social-emotional learning.Hold current certifications in CPR, first aid, child-abuse recognition, or related health and safety areas. Physical Demands and Work Environment The Site Lead must be able to:Work in an active school and afterschool environment with children and youth.Move regularly between classrooms, hallways, common areas, athletic spaces, and other activity locations.Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the program site for extended periods.Participate in or supervise indoor and outdoor activities.Lift and carry program materials and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation.Respond promptly and appropriately during emergencies or unexpected situations.
