Special Delivery Unit RN (Full Time or Part Time, Nights)

Work Location: Orange, California Work Shift: Night – 12hrs (United States of America) Job Summary This position is for a registered nurse who will join the new Special Delivery Unit (SDU) scheduled to open in the fall of 2026 at Rady Children’s. The SDU will provide comprehensive fetal care, including triage, labor and delivery procedures (LDRP), and operating rooms for ground‑breaking fetal intervention procedures. The nurse will support obstetric care for both high‑risk and low‑risk mothers, assist in the operating and delivery rooms as needed within scope of practice, and focus on family‑centered care. The role requires ensuring quality care is provided according to policies and procedures, managing patient flow and placement, and completing other duties as assigned. Pay Range Minimum $52.93 Midpoint $70.13 Maximum $87.32 Experience Required: Minimum two (2) years of experience in clinical specialty Labor and Delivery Preferred: Experience in high risk Labor and Delivery Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing; Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) (effective on all offers made after November 1, 2015) Specialized Skills Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations Effectively solve complex patient care and organizational problems; role model positive and professional behavior Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationships and collaboration skills Strong analytical and organizational skills; excellent critical thinking, judgment, and problem‑solving skills Attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations Licensure Required: California RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Plan (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) fetal monitoring and/or National Certification in fetal monitoring (C‑EFM) Preferred: National Certification related to Obstetrics Work Environment Medium to high energy level. Physical demands include lifting and carrying 40–50 lbs, pushing/pulling 150–200 lbs, lateral transfer of 150–200 lbs, and other repetitive motions such as lifting, bending, reaching, and standing. The role requires knowledge of and compliance with safety protocols for airborne communicable disease, bloodborne pathogens, chemical exposure, dust, extreme noise, extreme temperatures, radiation, and uneven surfaces.
